2-PACK PREVENTIC Collar (25") - For Dogs OVER 60 lbs Review
I live in Westchester county NY (where the incidence of Lyme disease is extraordinarily high). The woods near me are absolutely loaded with ticks, especially in the fall and spring. Even when using the once a month topical liquid type remedies (and I've tried all brands) it was not unusual to find 3 or four a day attached to my dog after walking him - his usual "walks" consist of off leash running around in heavily wooded areas for over an hour twice a day. Within 2 days of putting the Preventic collar on him, the incidence of attached ticks drops to zero (and remains that way). The packaging recommends removing the collar before bathing, but heavy rain (and almost daily splashing /swimming in streams & ponds) do not seem to reduce the effectiveness. Although they can't bite/attach, one should still watch for the occasional loose tick that may get brought into the house.
