It seems to work well as far a I am able to tell on both my short hair boxer and on my longer hair lab mix dog. They are generally in my house, backyard and curb grass areas in my subdivision when walked each day for approximately 2 miles - not out in the country wooded areas. Suspect it should work the same either way - but can't really say. It is exactly what I could get at the Vet, but for a more reasonable price. With two (75# and 85#) dogs, pricing is very important for me.
